My friend is remodelling a room that had an old man smoker renter in it for about 2 yrs. We have tried opening the windows and using Febreeze but it still is REALLY stinky. Does anyone have any “home remedies” for permanent smoke smell removal?

Cookie On My Mind asked:

I have heard you need to routes of egress when you have a basement bedroom. Do the stairs to the upstairs count as one? The basement in our future home has windows that open downstairs, but they are only big enough for an average sized person to squeeze out of. The basement is also a walk out basement - would that door count as a 2nd exit? Or do you think we’d have to get larger windows?
* two routes

Just Jess asked:

I have a cat - who sheds a lot. His litter box is in the bathroom that is directly off of my bedroom..so i vacuum the bathroom daily (sometimes multiple times a day)…

My bedroom only gets vacuumed once a week (saturdays). With the cat shedding so much this summer I’ve been vacuuming a little more than usual..

My room doesnt really get dirty (other than my cat who basically doesnt leave my room). I dont eat in here, nobody wears shoes in here..so theirs really not a lot of dirt or crums that get tracked through here…

How often should i be vacuuming. Does once every other day sound reasonable?
